  • When the Sun rises – you are close to wellness

    By -

How many of us woke up so early just to meet the sun when it rises? I don’t know but I find it so empowering seeing it coming out at the dawn of cold condition and suddenly you can feel the heat on your face as it touches your skin and just like that it made your day. Aside from being stock in the moment in awe with its beauty you don’t much realize what its gives you as you embrace it, it is giving you back healthy benefits without you knowing it.

When your skin is directly exposed to the heat of the sun, your body reacts and a chemical inside your body triggers and would result to the formation of vitamin D, an important nutrient that helps you absorb calcium and form strong bones and teeth. However, an indirect exposure of the sun does not have a guarantee –you will receive healthy benefits from its light. If the sunlight already passes through a certain element it will affect its light hence, the chance of enjoying healthy sunlight is thin.

Studies have also shown that vitamin D can increase survival rates for women with breast cancer, and deficiencies can lead to prostate cancer in men. Low levels of vitamin D have also been linked to more aggressive forms of skin cancer.

Experts estimate that up to 85% of people are Vitamin D deficient, but some say that number may be even higher.

The title “vitamin” is a bit of a misnomer – what we refer to as “vitamin” D is actually a steroid hormone that is involved in making hundreds of enzymes and proteins in the body. The most potent steroid hormone in the body, Vitamin D affects nearly 3,000 of our 30,000 genes.

Most people only get about 10% of our Vitamin D from dietary sources, so in order to get enough, the rest must come from sun exposure or supplements. Twenty minutes of sun exposure without sunscreen provides about 20,000 units …

Skin cancer is link to the effect of sunlight, over exposure to its light will cause the illness. Sun exposure is the most preventable risk factor for all skin cancers. You can have fun in the sun and decrease your risk of skin cancer providing the security measures you applied on your skin such as sunscreen lotion and other skin protection you can find in the market.

None of us wants to get skin cancer. But we can’t deprive our skin from the healthy benefits it can get from the sun, proper skin care and appropriate protection from over exposure of the sunlight is maintained then there’s no reason to hate summer and enjoy it!
